As a long time Disney veteran, Tess was called upon once again to be a principal performer for Walt Disney Pictures’ “The Princess and the Frog Experience” at the Roseland Ballroom in New York City. She performed at multiple sold-out shows with audiences topping over 4,000 people!
Tess was featured in 4 readings at Primary Stages Playwriting Festival. She played principal roles in the works of playwrights Molly Thomas, Jimmy Allen, Davida Singer and Mariah McCarthy, and was directed by Cusi Cram and Michelle Bossy.
To culminate the Advanced Scene Study: Brecht course at Primary Stages, Tess performed in selected scenes from The Threepenny Opera in the role of “Polly Peachum.” She was featured in “The Ballad of Mac the Knife” and “Jealousy Duet.” As the teacher’s assistant for the course, Tess had a great time working closely with Award-Winning Director, Jackson Gay.
In an effort to aid those affected by Typhoon Ondoy in the Philippines, Tess produced the Halo Halo Cabaret, a one-night only evening of performances at the Triad Theater. Co-hosted by Tess Paras and Ryan Willard (Nickelodeon), the variety show included appearances by Broadway singers and dancers, including: Albert Guerzon, Ester Barroso, Jason Ostrowski, Erin Quil, J. Elaine Marcos, and Bobby Martino. Proceeds raised went to support NAFCON (The National Alliance for Filipino Concerns). For more on the event and how you can help aid typhoon victims, click here.

Tess is thrilled to serve as Director Jackson Gay’s Teacher’s Assistant for the Fall Semester at Primary Stages School of Theater. She will assist and attend the Advanced Scene Study course which focuses intensely on the work of Brecht. Click here for a detailed course description. Tess completed Level 301 of training at Upright Citizens Brigade. The course culminated with a graduation show at the UCB Theater in which she and her classmates performed a full-length Harold. Her course instructor was the wonderfully talented Gavin Speiller of the UCB House Team “Death By Roo Roo.” She plans to continue on to level 401 in September.
Tess modeled for a Verizon Print Ad that will be used for the Asian and Hawaiian markets. The photoshoot took place at Milk Studios and was cast by House Productions.
Tess produced and acted in the Award-Winning Film, “Grace and the Staten Island Fairy.” Among its many nominations, the film took 2nd Place in 6th Annual 72 Hour Film Shootout, sponsored by the Asian American Film Lab and Asian Cinevision. Tess is a founding member of ColorTV Productions, a New York City based film collective which has participated in the shootout for three consecutive years. Tess performed the role of “Gwen” in the AEA Staged Reading of “The All-American Genderf*ck Cabaret” at INTAR Theater. Tess worked closely with Playwright Mariah McCarthy and Director Krystal Benzon to develop the character.
As a part of Femme Feast, produced by The Waverly Writers Collective and Wanderlust Collective, Tess performed ”Connecticut,” a one-woman piece, by playwright Bekah Brunstetter and directed by Michelle Bossy (Artistic Associate, Primary Stages). Tess performed in Broadway Backwards 4, the annual gender-bending concert of show tune favorites, benefiting the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center. Tess appeared in the number “Officer Krupke,” singing and dancing alongside Whoopi Goldberg, and Broadway Vets; Jenn Colella and Nancy Anderson. Tess won “Best Actress” on Sunday, at the 5th Annual 72 Hour Film Shootout Awards Presentation at the Asia Society, as a part of the Asian American International Film Festival in New York City, presented by AsianCinevision and AAFilm Lab. For her prize, Tess will have a one-on-one meeting with Marci Phillips, Executive Director of Primetime Casting for ABC Entertainment who served on the judging panel for the competition.
Tess acted and co-produced the film, “Cold War” with the team Color TV (http://www.colortvproductions.com). Tess appears in the We Network promo for their hit show, Bridezillas. The commercial is now airing on the We TV and on Youtube. Print ads featuring Tess are currently running in national magazines—including People and Ok! Weekly -- as well as numerous billboards across the country. The spot was directed by Jim Tozzi, produced by THEM Productions, and cast by Caroline Sinclair Casting.
